Japan's Ski Slopes Have Too Much of a Good Thing: Snow
Briefly

Japan's ski resorts are experiencing an exceptional winter with over 12 feet of snowpack, creating ideal conditions for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. However, this heavy snowfall has also resulted in significant challenges, including heavy snowdrifts that have made it harder for resorts to operate and raised safety concerns among visitors. Some ski areas have had to close lifts to manage the snowfall and road closures have hindered access for skiers. As a result, both profit margins and the safety of skiers in the backcountry have been impacted.
While many of Japan's 500 or so ski areas are having a banner season, giant snowdrifts have led to challenges that have dented profits and raised safety concerns.
Heavy snow is both a joy and a worry for resort workers... There are concerns if it doesn't fall, and concerns if it falls too much.
