Unleashing Llama's Potential: CPU-based Fine-tuning
Briefly

The article discusses the evolution of technology focus from Java, which dominated discussions at QCon in 2018-2019, to LLMs following the COVID-19 pandemic. Rajput, who transitioned from Intel to AMD, emphasizes the importance of understanding CPU architecture for optimizing performance in software development. He highlights the significance of software-hardware synchronization and how awareness of the underlying hardware can lead to performance improvements, especially in cloud environments where companies look to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
I wanted to always understand what customers are doing, what are their environments running. One of the things at QCon, I found at the time that the hottest topic in 2018 and 2019 frame, number one is Java.
The hottest topics were underneath CPUs, most of the deployment. That's my experience. Then, suddenly COVID happened.
The whole conference here is no longer Java, on the products, but it's all about LLMs.
We plan to talk about CPUs and show how you can actually be aware of the underneath hardware that would be deployed, and design your thing.
