Radian Aerospace's recent completion of ground tests for their sub-scale prototype PFV01 marks a significant step towards achieving a reusable space plane capable of conventional takeoff and landing.
Cofounder CTO Livingston Holder noted, 'This vehicle gives us the ability to adjust the center of gravity forward and aft, up and down...Wherever there's ambiguity...that's one of the things that the PFV really gives us the opportunity to do, is drive uncertainty down.'
The plan for the Radian One space plane includes launching from a two-mile rail sled, igniting engines in orbit, and landing on a conventional runway, enhancing accessibility to space.
