Kairan Quazi, now 16, is leaving his junior engineer role at SpaceX's Starlink to move to New York and work for Citadel Securities. Quazi graduated from Santa Clara University at 14, becoming its youngest graduate. At Starlink he designed and executed beam-tracking software, developing ideas, presenting them to engineers and leadership, implementing solutions, and monitoring rollouts. He described SpaceX's culture as ambitious and high-performance but felt progress moved too slowly for his preferences. He turned down multiple other offers and chose Citadel Securities for its faster pace, complexity, and intellectual challenge in quantitative finance.
