After struggling with diabetes, Rinchin sought low-sugar soft-serve options and decided to create her own. The shop boasts a variety of flavors, including black sesame and dragon fruit, which have significantly lower sugar content than competitors. Rinchin is also committed to excellent dessert quality, aiming for her shop to become a local favorite, similar to Salt & Straw, and positioned as a late-night destination for treats.
"I love cooking, and I'm in love with food and dessert. I'm not so much in love with ice cream options in the U.S." says Rinchin, highlighting her passion for creating better dessert options.
At her shop, the flavors extend beyond vanilla or chocolate, featuring unique offerings like black sesame, matcha, and dragon fruit, appealing to diverse palettes.
Rinchin aims for a sugar content that is a quarter to half of typical competitors, catering specifically to those looking for healthier dessert alternatives.
With hopes of becoming Burlingame's late-night dessert destination and aspiring to be the next 'Salt & Straw,' Rinchin's vision is ambitious and creative.
