Pro-skater and Michelin-starred chef open new burger spot with only two items on the menu
"We got one thing and we do it really well. You can be a jack of all trades and the master of none and we want to be the master of one. We just do a hamburger and it's ... good. It is soft, it is juicy but you're getting American cheese, secret sauce, pickles and tamed jalapeños. It's the flavor of a backyard burger growing up in L.A. that your dad would make."
"It's one of those passion-project side quest things that one of my best friends and I were doing at home and it's taken up a life of its own. We would just get together at weekends and give away free burgers and that's just what we did."
Phillip Frankland Lee, a Michelin-starred chef, and Neen Williams, a professional skateboarder and spice company owner, transformed their backyard cookout tradition into NADC Burger, a restaurant concept focused on perfecting a single menu item. Launched in Austin in 2022, the restaurant serves only cheeseburgers and fries, intentionally limiting their offerings to master one craft. The burger features American cheese, secret sauce, pickles, and tamed jalapeños, designed to evoke nostalgic backyard grilling experiences. The pair refined their recipe by distributing free burgers at skate parks and comedy shows. This focused approach has proven successful, with the chain expanding to 11 locations across multiple states, culminating in their first California location opening in Westwood Village near UCLA.
