This Bay Area grocery store supports farmers in the shadow of Whole Foods
Briefly

Sigona's Farmers Market in Redwood City has provided fresh produce and local goods for over four decades. Founded by the Sigona brothers in 1975 as a modest farm stand, it transitioned into a grocery store in 1984 and later expanded with a second location. Known for its collaboration with local farms, Sigona's sources a wide selection of fresh produce and unique products from nearby businesses. Still a beloved community staple today, it remains under the guidance of the next generation of Sigona family owners, showcasing a commitment to local sourcing and quality.
Produce has always been in our blood," said Robbie Sigona, a co-owner and lead produce buyer at Sigona's.
Since the beginning, Sigona's has worked with Andy's Orchard in Morgan Hill and Pezzini Farms in Castroville, which have supplied the market with sweet cherries and heirloom artichokes, respectively.
Sigona's also carries a selection of products from Bay Area businesses, like biscotti from nearby Redwood City bakery La Biscotteria and pillowy soft focaccia from San Francisco's iconic Liguria Bakery.
Sigona's remains a bustling community fixture, now under the watchful eye of a set of second-generation owners.
