Google seeks to sell some Mountain View sites that may become housing
Briefly

Google is planning to sell 40 acres of its Mountain View properties to allow for potential housing developments, aiming to operate more efficiently. The Middlefield Park site is under consideration for sale, with the company seeking buyers experienced in residential housing. City officials have approved plans for the area, which include 1,900 homes and spaces for community use, following the removal of existing buildings. Industry experts highlight that these changes reflect Google's evolving strategic direction in response to current needs.
A shift to housing at Middlefield Park would be a plus both for the region and for Google, said Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies.
We continue to focus on investing in real estate efficiently to meet the needs of our hybrid workforce and business, Lamont said.
Right-sizing is the correct way to look at this, Bajarin said. These sales have more to do with Google's strategic direction.
Plans for the neighborhood envision the removal of 14 existing industrial, office and research buildings to clear the way for the new village.
