The Chengdu Snow Village, aimed to attract tourists with a snowy landscape during the Lunar New Year, faced backlash as warm weather led to the absence of real snow. Instead of canceling, organizers attempted to create artificial snow with cotton and white sand, which failed dramatically. Disappointed guests shared photos showing the reality of the setup, leading to viral criticism. The Chengdu Culture and Tourism Bureau intervened, and the village later apologized, offering refunds, acknowledging the disconnect between their expectations and actual visitor experiences.
In order to create a 'snowy' atmosphere, the tourist village purchased cotton for the snow... but it did not achieve the expected effect, leaving a very bad impression on tourists.
Following the precedents of previous years, we typically have snow in winter. So we set up this spot for a photo shoot in advance to wait for the snow to come, however, this year, the weather didn’t cooperate.
