Mikel Arteta refused to comment on Eberechi Eze's imminent arrival after Arsenal agreed a £67.5m deal. Eze sat out Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League match. Arteta said he cannot discuss players not yet part of the group and gave no further transfer details. Arteta concentrated on Kai Havertz's fitness, stating more tests are needed and that Havertz is currently not fit. I prefer not to talk about the specifics but he is not fit. We need to explore this situation a bit further and decide what we are going to do. I don't know [how long he will be out for]. I would love to have him available for tomorrow.
It was dependent on how the game developed and every game brings different challenges and opportunities. I think the game was very demanding physically, it became really open for different reasons and at that time we decided he did enough and we had Kai [Havertz] on the bench to come on and change the game. He is very enthusiastic. He has trained really well this week again. He has had another week under his belt and he is in a really good place.
