""I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate," Rodgers told Celtic's website of Iheanacho. "I am sure he will love being at Celtic, and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience, and he is right in his peak years, so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team."
"The Nigeria international made 232 appearances for Leicester in all competitions, with 149 of those coming during Rodgers' time in charge. He scored 61 goals for the Foxes before leaving at the end of the 2023-24 season. He joined Sevilla, making 11 appearances for the LaLiga side, though he spent the second half of 2024-25 on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored once and got one assist."
Kelechi Iheanacho has signed a one-year contract with Celtic, subject to international clearance, with the club holding an option for a further year. Iheanacho left Sevilla by mutual termination on deadline day and joined Celtic on a free transfer, arriving before the Europa League deadline. The signing follows fan criticism over a slow transfer window and the departure of Adam Idah to Swansea City. Iheanacho reunites with Brendan Rodgers, having made 232 appearances and scored 61 goals for Leicester, won the 2021 FA Cup, and most recently spent time at Sevilla and on loan at Middlesbrough. He could debut against Kilmarnock on September 14.
