Conor Gallagher has completed a transfer from Atlético Madrid to Tottenham Hotspur after 17 months in Spain. Atlético signed several midfielders last summer, increasing competition and limiting Gallagher's starts. Gallagher moved to Atlético from Chelsea in August 2024 for about €40 million. Tottenham face multiple midfield injuries, with James Maddison out for the season, Rodrigo Bentancur sidelined after hamstring surgery, Mohammed Kudus injured until after March, and Dejan Kulusevski still recovering from a knee problem. Tottenham manager Thomas Frank praised Gallagher's experience, leadership and on-field qualities ahead of his return to London.
