According to multiple reports out of the UK, Newcastle United has agreed to a British record £130m ($A268m) deal with Liverpool for striker Alexander Isak. Isak is set to travel to Liverpool on Tuesday for a medical but a full agreement is reportedly in place to see the Swedish striker link up with the Premier League champions on a six-year contract.
The deal surpasses the £115m ($A237m) Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo in the summer of 2023. Newcastle were reportedly holding out for £150 million ($A310m) for Isak, who publicly voiced his desire to leave and was yet to feature this season despite being under contract with Newcastle until 2028. Isak's arrival continues a spending spree for Liverpool, who spent £116 million ($A240m) with add-ons (AU$241 million) on German midfielder Florian Wirtz, plus £79 million (AU$164 million) for French forward Hugo Ekitike.
