Ellie Carpenter, vice-captain of the Matildas, has publicly supported Sam Kerr as she recovers from a significant knee injury, preventing her participation in the SheBelieves Cup. Kerr, who recently faced court proceedings, was found not guilty of a harassment charge. Carpenter empathizes with Kerr’s rehabilitation journey, recalling her own experience with an ACL tear. She highlights the Matildas' increased visibility and scrutiny following their success at the Women's World Cup, underlining the pressure on the team as they prepare for future challenges including the Paris Olympics.
We hope she's OK with her well being, obviously it has been a very challenging time for her.
Post-World Cup the Matildas were put on the map more so than before, Carpenter said.
