Briefly

Erik ten Hag was dismissed by Bayer Leverkusen after two league matches in charge following a 2-1 home loss to Hoffenheim and a 3-3 draw at Werder Bremen. Club leadership described the decision as difficult and said recent weeks showed building a successful team with the current set-up was not feasible. Ten Hag had been out of management since his Manchester United sacking and had replaced Xabi Alonso in May. Leverkusen lost several key players over the close season, sits five points behind Bayern Munich, and faces an upcoming Champions League campaign.
Bayer Leverkusen have sacked manager Erik ten Hag after two league games in charge with the weekend draw at Werder Bremen not enough to save the Dutchman's job.
