Carl Cokine Anthony, an architect and city planner from Berkeley, passed away on April 4 at the age of 87. His career focused on redefining the connections between racial equity, regionalism, and environmental justice. Born in Philadelphia, he was inspired by a teacher in elementary school to pursue city planning. Despite challenges, including leaving high school early, he returned to education and later worked in libraries, which fueled his quest for knowledge and understanding of his identity and the world around him.
