Facebook Enables Passkey Access, Providing Additional Account Security
Briefly

Facebook is set to introduce passkeys for its mobile platforms, including Messenger, enabling users to log in securely without relying solely on passwords. This development aligns with trends on other platforms such as X, TikTok, and LinkedIn, which have already implemented passkey access to combat account hacking. Users will still have the option to log in with their passwords on devices not supporting passkeys, ensuring flexible access. This move highlights the importance of security measures across social media platforms in response to growing concerns about online account safety.
Several other platforms have already enabled Passkey access, with X adding it early last year, along with TikTok and LinkedIn. Given the ongoing concerns around account hacking, it makes sense that, eventually, all platforms are likely to implement the option as another security measure.
Once it's set up, you'll be able to use your passkey moving forward to log in to Facebook on your mobile device. You'll still be able to use other authentication methods, such as your password, to access your account.
