New Instagram Reels Fire TV channel is here to drain the rest of your attention span
"On Tuesday, Amazon announced a notably peculiar collaboration with Meta that brings your social media feed to a bigger screen. Instagram for TV -- a new version of the app built for TVs -- is now available on Amazon Fire TV devices in the US. It's specifically designed to watch short-form videos (Instagram Reels), which makes group viewing far more enjoyable than huddling around a single phone."
"Fire TV's mission is "to get [users] to the world's best content fast," Aidan Marcuss, the vice president of Fire TV, explains. Integrating one of the world's most popular social media platforms onto a TV's interface is definitely one way to push that boundary. Instagram has never offered an app experience specifically dedicated to TVs, and it could be the first move in a longer game social media giants are beginning to play as they integrate their platforms into more aspects of daily life."
"Once you download the Instagram for TV app on your Fire TV device, you'll be prompted to sign in. You can add up to five different accounts, allowingyour whole household to watch their own personalized recommendations powered by individual algorithms. If you'd rather not sign in with a personal account, it will also let you create a separate account specifically for Instagram for TV."
Amazon and Meta released Instagram for TV on Amazon Fire TV devices in the US, offering a TV-optimized app focused on short-form videos (Instagram Reels). The app supports signing in with up to five accounts or creating a separate TV account so household members receive personalized recommendations. Users can search for creators and topics, view Reels organized into channels, and like videos or read comments from the TV interface. The experience mirrors Instagram's standard recommendation algorithm and engagement features. The launch marks Instagram's first dedicated TV app and signals social platforms expanding their presence onto television screens.
