Both Moja and Lily's deteriorating health brought staff to a hard decision regarding euthanasia, reflecting the tremendous care zoos must provide and the weight of veterinary decisions. Moja, who had reached the upper limits of his species’ lifespan, was deemed to have a poor prognosis following a noticeable decline on Christmas Day. Meanwhile, Lily exhibited alarming symptoms prior to her death, underlining the importance of attentive observation and swift medical intervention for aging zoo residents, ensuring welfare in their final days.
