Adkins leaves Tranmere by mutual agreement
Briefly

Nigel Adkins has mutually parted ways with Tranmere Rovers after a disappointing run of results, including a winless streak of 10 matches. Under his leadership since November 2023, the team has struggled, currently sitting 22nd in League Two, just above the relegation zone. Despite previous success in keeping the team afloat last season, injuries and suspensions plagued this campaign. Tranmere's chairman Mark Palios acknowledged the need for a managerial change to improve their fortunes in the remaining games. Adkins' tenure ended after managing 72 matches with a record of 23 wins and 34 losses.
Tranmere chairman Mark Palios stated, "No-one can doubt his [Adkins'] commitment, effort or passion for Tranmere Rovers, but this season has been hampered by a litany of injuries..."
Despite steering the team to mid-table safety last season, Adkins' losing record this season—34 losses in 72 games—proves too much for Tranmere's ambitions.
After acknowledging the disappointing league position, Palios emphasized the need for a change of manager, believing it is best for the remaining games ahead.
Adkins, who returned to his hometown club in July 2023, struggled to replicate previous successes, winning only six out of 34 league games this season.
