Tesla partners up to expand Virtual Power Plant program in Texas
Briefly

Tesla has formed a new partnership with the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to enhance its Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program. This initiative, named the Aggregated Distributed Energy Resource (ADER), leverages Tesla’s Powerwall home battery systems to create a collective battery resource that helps stabilize the grid during peak demands. The program has already registered about 17 MW from Powerwall customers, signaling the rising importance of consumer-generated energy in Texas's electricity market, aimed at improving grid resilience and reliability.
Consumer generated energy is quickly becoming an important resource for the Texas wholesale electricity market. Cooperation between GVEC and Tesla...is a strategic move.
Tesla Energy's Powerwall home battery is super underrated, and it has so much potential in areas that are typically affected by power outages.
