Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred: what we know so far
Briefly

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has been downgraded from a category 2 cyclone to a tropical low, yet Queensland and New South Wales are still under flood and severe weather warnings. The cyclone caused significant rainfall, with totals between 100mm to 200mm, particularly affecting the Gold Coast and Grafton regions. Senior meteorologists indicated that while wind speeds have decreased, heavy rain continues, raising concerns for flash flooding, especially across southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales, where many regions are already on flood alert.
"Severe weather warnings were current from Gympie down to Coffs Harbour, and as far west as Toowoomba and Stanthorpe in Queensland."
"Despite the downgrade to a tropical low, significant and severe weather warnings and flood warnings remained in place due to the rain."
