A severed human hand was discovered at Our Lady Immaculate school in Darndale, Dublin, igniting a police investigation. Authorities speculate the hand might belong to a male child seriously burned in a gas canister explosion during a bonfire incident the previous night. As the investigation unfolds, Gardaí are currently unable to confirm the identity and ownership of the severed hand, while the State Pathologist is involved to help clarify the situation deeper, amid a backdrop of past violent crimes in the area.
Gardai said on Friday night that they could not "definitively" confirm at this stage that the hand that was discovered at the school belonged to the boy.
There is a number of unanswered questions at this early stage of the investigation," a source pointed out.
A scene is currently being held and the State Pathologist has been notified, in line with standard practice.
Gardai are investigating after a severed hand was found at a school in north Dublin today.
