Look on His Works: Ramses the Great exhibition is coming to London
"Ramesses II, better known as Ramses the Great, ruled more than 3,200 years ago and is widely hailed as the mightiest pharaoh of Egypt's most powerful era, the New Kingdom. His 66-year reign - the longest of any pharaoh - cemented his reputation as a supreme builder, warrior, statesman and, with around 90-100 children, a man who took legacy-building rather too literally."
"Featuring 180 artefacts from the reign of Ramses and ancient Egypt, including ornately carved sarcophagi, animal mummies, jewellery, and royal masks, the exhibition features many objects that have never before left Egypt. Among the highlights will be the original wooden coffin that once held Ramses II's mummy. The exhibition will also feature a virtual reality experience that transports visitors deep into Ramses' legacy, from the Tomb of Queen Nefertari to the monumental temples of Abu Simbel."
Ramses II reigned more than 3,200 years ago during Egypt's New Kingdom and held a 66-year reign, the longest of any pharaoh. He was renowned as a builder, warrior and statesman and fathered around 90–100 children. Late February 2026 will see 180 artefacts from Ramses' reign displayed at the NEON building beside Battersea Power Station, with many pieces never before leaving Egypt. Key items include ornately carved sarcophagi, animal mummies, jewellery, royal masks and the original wooden coffin that once held Ramses II's mummy. A virtual reality experience recreates the Tomb of Queen Nefertari and the temples of Abu Simbel. All objects are loaned from Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities. Presale begins 9 December, public bookings open 10 December, general tickets start at £24.90, 10,000 off-peak tickets will be £15, and 5,000 complimentary school tickets will be provided.
