Man charged with murder after body found inside south London property on New Year's Day
"Officers attended an address on Bondway, Lambeth, at 8pm on Thursday, January 1, following a welfare concern for a man. Upon arrival, police found the body of Indian national, Kaleem Shaik, 41, inside the property. Mr Shaik's family, who live in India, have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Daniel Levy, 48, of Bondway, Lambeth, was charged with murder on Saturday, January 3, after being arrested on Thursday."
"He appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on the same day and was remanded in custody to appear next at the Old Bailey on Monday, January 5. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who is leading the investigation, said: Our thoughts are with Kaleem's family at this very difficult time. My team is not currently seeking any additional suspects in relation to this tragic incident. We understand the concern this will have caused the local community and residents can expect to see an increased police presence over the coming days."
