An 85-year-old man, Andrew Farmer of Ealing, was found seriously injured at Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith after officers responded to reports of an assault on 18 September. He died on 25 September. A 70-year-old man, Anatoliy Podmazko, was charged on 20 September with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on 17 October. The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation and are maintaining close contact with Farmer's family while keeping them updated. Farmer's partner paid tribute, noting his scholarly nature, varied interests, and long partnership.
