Wasif Hussain and Nabela Tabassum were found guilty of attempted murder after brutally attacking Hussain's stepmother in Birmingham while wearing giraffe masks. The attack was triggered by accusations of the couple not contributing to household chores. During the assault, which was recorded by a home camera, Hussain used a hammer and stabbed the victim, while Tabassum restrained her. Fortunately, the victim managed to escape to a locked room to call the police. Both fled but were later arrested and are awaiting sentencing.
"This was a calculated and frenzied attack on a defenceless woman using weapons including a knife and hammer. She was very lucky to have managed to get away..."
"The evidence we provided at court helped to convict these two of attempted murder. They are set to spend many years behind bars when they next appear in court for sentence."
