'Mouse infestation' at Romford care home sees exterminators called in
Briefly

Barleycroft Care Home has acknowledged an increase in mouse activity, attributed to nearby construction and declining temperatures. This care home, which accommodates 80 residents, assures that the situation is taken seriously and is actively collaborating with pest control specialists Rentokil. While the home has faced pest problems previously, the current management indicates that there is no evidence of rats, and no resident injuries have been reported. The local council is aware of past issues and is monitoring the situation closely for compliance with health and safety regulations.
When we observed an increase in pests following nearby construction work and the onset of colder weather, we immediately took action to increase the frequency of our visits from Rentokil.
The care home is independently owned and run separately from the council. Our adult social care team is aware of a previous issue but was told by the home that it had a plan of action to resolve this.
