Noel Clarke accuser groped him playfully at film premiere, court told
Briefly

Noel Clarke is suing Guardian News and Media for libel over allegations of sexual misconduct made against him. In a high court hearing, witness Philip Dore described witnessing Gina Powell, a film producer, playfully touch Clarke's buttocks at a film premiere in 2015. Dore asserted that his comments were mischaracterized during cross-examination, defending Clarke's reputation and reflecting on his protective treatment of Powell as she navigated the film industry. Interestingly, several individuals expected to testify in support of Clarke have withdrawn from the case, raising questions about his defense strategy.
Dore described Powell as touching his childhood friend in a friendly way on his buttocks. Gavin Millar KC, representing GNM, questioned the nature of the touch.
Under cross-examination by Millar, Dore denied making statements that Powell was asking for it by wearing a short skirt and had encouraged a dismissive attitude.
Clarke had been very protective of Powell, treating her like a little sister, knowing her family, and wanting her to be treated with respect.
It has emerged that at least five of the 15 people who were supposed to give oral evidence in support of Clarke's claim will no longer be doing so.
