Prisons changed for the better - retiring officer
Briefly

Steve Ley, the UK's longest-serving prison officer, reflects on his 50-year career in the HM Prison and Probation Service. Having worked through significant changes in the prison system, he emphasizes the transition from outdated practices like using chamber pots to modern facilities with amenities such as TVs and phones. Ley believes these improvements foster good behavior and rehabilitation. Throughout his career, he has seen many inmates successfully reintegrate into society and stresses the importance of supporting rather than punishing prisoners during their sentences.
