The superyacht of late tech mogul Mike Lynch sank off Sicily on August 19, 2024, claiming the lives of seven people, including Lynch and his daughter. Recently salvaged, the yacht was transported to Termini Imerese for investigation by British and Italian authorities. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) aims to uncover aspects contributing to the sinking, including safety measures and on-board activities, in their report. The recovery was delayed due to a diver's death in May, leading to increased use of remote-operated equipment.
"When the wreck is brought ashore, we'll be completing a full examination of the wreck and we'll be finding out all of the elements that might have contributed to the safety of the vessel."
"Raising and examining the yacht for evidence will provide vital information for its investigation into the sinking."
