Daniel Dubois' IBF heavyweight title defense against Joseph Parker has been cancelled after Dubois fell ill just days before the scheduled fight. He was medically evaluated in Saudi Arabia prior to his withdrawal, and Parker, instead of facing Dubois, will be going up against Martin Bakole, who has stepped in as a late replacement. Parker expressed his concern for Dubois’ health, emphasizing the importance of fighting only when in top physical shape. Dubois, with a strong professional record, recently defended his title against Anthony Joshua, while Parker also holds an impressive fighting history.
"If he is ill, I hope he gets better soon and I'm looking forward to Saturday and having a great show," Parker said before learning of the replacement.
"He did a sensible thing. If you're sick, don't fight. There's no point going out there and fighting your heart out and you're not in the right physical shape."
"Put your best foot forward and the one that everyone will remember," Parker stated about the importance of fighting in peak condition.
Dubois has won 22 pro fights with two defeats. He won the 'interim' IBF title against Filip Hrgovic and was elevated to world champion when Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt.
