"Reform have chosen a candidate that will divide our community - he doesn't even think many of the people who live and work here are even British. I will bring the people of Gorton and Denton together."
"I work as a plumber, something I've done since leaving education at 16. I'm training to become a plasterer too. I've lived in the constituency and still work here. So, I know the issues and what people want to change."
"This is a crucial by-election. The choice is clear Green v Reform. Hope v hate."
Hannah Spencer will stand for the Green Party in the Gorton and Denton by-election on 26 February. The vacancy was created by Andrew Gwynne's resignation on health grounds. Spencer is 34, works as a plumber, is training as a plasterer, and has represented Hale ward on Trafford Council since May 2023. Spencer has lived and worked in the constituency and says she understands local issues and priorities. Spencer framed the contest as a choice between Green and Reform, portraying the latter as divisive. Green Party leader Zack Polanski expressed confidence in her community commitment.
