Irish officials deliver demarche to Israelis after two Irish diplomats fired at by IDF in the West Bank
Briefly

Two Irish diplomats confirmed safe after an incident in Jenin where the IDF fired shots near their diplomatic delegation. Tánaiste Simon Harris condemned the act as a breach of international law, emphasizing the unacceptable danger posed to diplomats. He expressed support for the affected diplomats and communicated dissatisfaction directly to Israel's ambassador. The Israeli military stated the diplomats deviated from an approved route, hence the warning shots, but the incident sparked a strong response from Ireland and the EU, stressing the need for strict adherence to international protocols regarding diplomatic safety.
The ambassador was informed that Ireland regards this incident to be a clear breach of obligations under international law with regards to the protection of diplomats.
I am shocked and appalled at reports that the IDF fired shots in the vicinity of a visit to Jenin today by a group of diplomats, including two Irish diplomats based in Ramallah.
