The UK Prison Service is intensifying efforts to combat prison gangs amid rising concerns over drone usage and drug-related violence. Prisons Minister James Timpson highlighted the expansion of the serious organised crime unit and acknowledged the challenges posed by a small number of compromised officers. With over 10% of prisoners involved in organised crime, Timpson affirmed the threat posed by drones to prison security, linking it to violence, drugs, and debt. Collaborative efforts with the National Crime Agency and regional police aim to restore control over prisons and offset gang manipulations.

It has been a serious problem for some time. It is very connected with serious organised crime.
