Harris has promised to cap families' childcare costs at no more than 7% of their incomes, compared to between 8% and 19.3% spent by the median American family in 2022.
The policy was first proposed in President Joe Biden's 2021 Build Back Better package but was not passed by Congress.
Trump's campaign has focused mainly on increasing the amount of the child tax credit, which is designed to help families with the costs of raising children.
Harris's plans include encouraging states to lower childcare costs by cutting copayments for the Child Care and Development Block Grant to benefit low-income families.
