7.0 Quake Rattles Northern California, Prompting a Brief Tsunami Warning
Briefly

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck off the California coast, triggering tsunami alerts and intense shaking in nearby communities, but causing minimal damage due to its remote location.
"It just started rolling real slow and got bigger and bigger and then hit... I just kind of stood there and watched my refrigerator walk across my kitchen floor," said Margit Cook, reflecting on her experience during the quake.
More than 10,000 customers lost power in Humboldt County, illustrating the quake's impact, despite the little physical damage reported in the surrounding areas.
The U.S. Geological Survey indicated the shaking intensity was categorized as weak outside the immediate epicenter, resulting in immediate cancellation of tsunami warnings shortly after they were issued.
