Rob Bresnahan Jr., the Republican chief executive of an electrical contracting company, made a significant gain for the GOP by defeating long-time Democratic Representative Matt Cartwright in Pennsylvania's swing district.
In a debate, Bresnahan emphasized his strong local roots, saying, 'I created jobs in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and I'm going to die and get buried in Northeastern Pennsylvania,' highlighting his commitment to the community.
The race was one of the most expensive in the nation, with Mr. Bresnahan criticizing the Biden administration's handling of issues like border security and inflation throughout his campaign.
After the election, Matt Cartwright conceded and congratulated Bresnahan, admitting to losses despite having served over a decade in Congress representing a district that Trump won.
