Anne Burrell died on the morning of June 17, 2025, at her Brooklyn residence. The New York Police Department found a suicidal note and suicidal journal entries in the primary bedroom. Burrell’s husband noticed the bed was unusually made and then found her on the bathroom floor with over-the-counter pills nearby. He attempted to rouse her by shaking and slapping her before calling 911 when she was unresponsive. The death was ruled a suicide. The medical examiner determined the cause as acute intoxication from the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine. Her husband said she had never attempted or discussed suicide previously.
