Deadly storms devastate parts of the U.S. South and Midwest
Briefly

The South and Midwest of the United States are grappling with the aftermath of severe spring storms and tornadoes that have already resulted in at least eight fatalities, including that of a 9-year-old boy in Kentucky. The National Weather Service has issued further warnings for excessive rainfall over the next couple of days, which heightens the risk of historic flooding. Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky highlighted the extreme dangers of floodwaters and urged the community to take precautions and support affected families during this challenging time.
"We need everyone to understand that all water poses a risk right now. Let's do everything possible to keep our loved ones safe," Beshear wrote on X.
"I would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family of this young boy," Assistant Chief of Police Scott Tracy said during a press conference. "Our prayers are with them."
