Capt. Rebecca M. Lobach was one of three soldiers killed in a tragic midair collision involving a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines jet near Reagan National Airport. Friends and colleagues described Lobach as 'brilliant and fearless,' showcasing her dedication and skill as an aviation officer. Having served since July 2019 and accumulating over 450 flight hours, she was recognized for her exemplary service with commendation medals and was involved in high-profile events, including escorting Ralph Lauren at the White House.
"Rebecca was brilliant and fearless, a talented pilot and a PT stud," said Davis Winkie, who trained alongside Lobach in the ROTC program.
"She had more than 450 hours of flight time and earned certification as a pilot-in-command after extensive testing by the most senior and experienced pilots in her battalion."
