On Saturday, Indian airstrikes inflicted extensive damage on multiple military airfields in Pakistan, as analyzed by satellite imagery. This represents the most significant military action in decades, targeting hangars, runways, and mobile infrastructure over 100 miles deep into Pakistani territory. Experts note it aimed to undermine Pakistan's air capabilities, although reports indicate that while strikes were effective, the bases remain operational. The Indian military claimed responsibility for hitting 11 bases and termed the attacks as "measured and calibrated." Pakistan acknowledged the strikes but reported successful interceptions of many missiles, with a few penetrating defenses.
The strikes marked "the most extensive Indian air attacks on Pakistani military infrastructure since the 1971 war," according to Walter Ladwig, a senior lecturer in international relations.
"High-profile targets were hit in precision strikes with the aim of severely degrading Pakistan's offensive and defensive air capabilities," stated William Goodhind, a geospatial analyst.
Jeffrey Lewis assessed that the air bases "suffered some damage, but not of the sort that would disable them."
Chaudhry told The Post on Wednesday that Pakistan's military intercepted most Indian missiles, stating, "A few managed to sneak in."
