For the first time, Japan has outlined a contingency plan to evacuate more than 100,000 civilians from its remote Sakishima islands near Taiwan due to increasing tensions between China and Taiwan. The evacuation involves mobilizing ships and planes to transport around 110,000 residents and 10,000 tourists within six days to eight prefectures in southwestern Japan.
