The driver and passenger had to be extricated from the minivan, the transit police said."

A minivan became immobilized on MBTA commuter rail tracks in Belmont early Monday morning and was struck by an approaching train. Two people were inside the vehicle when the collision occurred. Emergency responders extricated the driver and passenger from the vehicle at the scene. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
