More human remains found in Oakland
Dismembered lower extremities were discovered in the Fruitvale district early Sunday. Police are investigating whether the remains are linked to different human remains found Feb. 1 about four miles away. Autopsy and other forensic tests are being conducted to determine sex, cause of death, and potential connections between the discoveries. The limbs were located about 1 a.m. in a bushy area on the 1700 block of 37th Avenue and appeared decomposed. The Feb. 1 remains were found near railroad tracks on the 9700 block of San Leandro Street and are being investigated as a homicide. Authorities request public assistance and video evidence.
"OAKLAND The dismembered lower extremities of a person were discovered in the Fruitvale district Sunday morning and police are trying to determine if they are linked to other human remains found Feb. 1 about four miles away, authorities said. An autopsy and other tests are being conducted on the remains found Sunday to determine the sex, a cause of death and if they are linked to the body parts found earlier this month."
"The two lower limbs were found about 1 a.m. Sunday in a bushy area on the 1700 block of 37th Avenue by someone who lives in the neighborhood, authorities said. They were in a state of decomposition and authorities believe they had been there for several days. Different dismembered remains were found Feb. 1 and that case is being investigated as a homicide, although it is unclear how the person died. Authorities have not said exactly what parts of the body they were and it has not been determined if they are of a man or woman."
