New video shows Britney Spears' DUI arrest in California
California Highway Patrol responded to reports of an erratic driver and arrested Britney Spears in Ventura County on March 4 for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Video shows an officer repeatedly asking Spears to exit her car for a DUI investigation after smelling alcohol. A supervisor intervened as Spears negotiated and expressed reluctance to be seen by passing spectators. After nearly 10 minutes, Spears stepped out and officers conducted field sobriety tests, then handcuffed her and placed her in a patrol vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital for blood to be drawn, while she insisted she was sober and said she had only a mimosa earlier.
"“I'm going to be honest with you, I do smell alcohol coming from your car, OK?” the CHP officer tells Spears. “That's why I want you to step out and that way I can ask you some questions and conduct a DUI investigation. If I feel like you're OK, then I'll get you out of here, OK?”"
"“What if we have you get out of the car,” CHP tells the pop singer. “We'll put you in one of our cars and we'll drive around the corner so we're somewhere that there isn't a bunch of people driving by.” Spears responds by telling the officer she doesn't want to get into their car. “You can come to my house,” she is heard saying in the video. “I'll make you food and lasagna, or whatever you want. I have a pool. My babies are coming to my house tonight supposedly.”"
"After almost 10 minutes of back and forth, Spears finally steps out of the car, making her way to the sidewalk where officers conduct field sobriety tests. Officers are seen handcuffing her before placing her in the back of a highway patrol vehicle. As Spears is taken to a local hospital to have blood drawn, she insists she's sober. At one point, Spears tells officers that they were being mean to her. They responded by saying they needed to test her blood."
"“I wasn't even drinking. I had a mimosa this morning. You guys are lying,” Spears said. Earlier this month, Spears avoided jail time after pleaded guilty to"
