Steve Albanese will retire after 29 years in law enforcement. Albanese became Pittsburg Police Chief in June 2022 following Chief Brian Addington's retirement. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico and advanced through department ranks, serving in nearly every operational area of municipal policing. City officials credited his commitment to accountability, professionalism, community and regional partnerships, and staff development. Albanese highlighted pride in officers and cited reductions in crime to a five-year low. He will work with city leadership to support a smooth transition and assist planning future department leadership.
