The Adams administration's North Star has always been public safety. New Yorkers want to be able to send their kids to school, go to work, shop in their local store, go out for dinner, and come home safely to their family and their community. They want to feel safe AND they want to be safe, and this administration has delivered that for them.
New York City saw the lowest number of shootings and shooting victims in its recorded history through the first nine months of 2025, continuing a nearly two-year decline in major crime, city officials announced Wednesday. Mayor Eric Adams and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said shootings, murders, robberies, and other major crimes have fallen to levels not seen in decades, capping the city's seventh straight quarter of overall crime reduction since January 2024.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has secured a third term in office, according to the preliminary results from Jamaica's fractious parliamentary election. The results released early on Thursday showed that Holness' Jamaica Labour Party won at least 34 seats in the previous day's vote. The governing party's main challenger, the People's National Party, secured 29 of the 63 seats in parliament.
On Wednesday, August 27, warrants were carried out at seven addresses in Battersea, leading to the arrests of six young men aged between 17 and 19. Officers seized several suspected stolen phones, a motorbike, a Rambo knife and drugs. All six were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit theft and fraud. A 19-year-old man from Wandsworth was also held on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and cannabis. They have been bailed until 25 November.
