On Dec. 10, 2024, at about 12:20 p.m., a pickup truck and an SUV collided on Stevens Creek Boulevard near Tyler Street in Santa Clara. The pickup was westbound and struck the SUV as it made a left turn from the eastbound direction into a driveway. The SUV driver, a 66-year-old San Jose man, suffered life-threatening injuries and later died at a hospital; his 65-year-old passenger was critically injured. A passenger in the pickup was also injured while the pickup driver was initially unscathed. Investigators concluded the pickup driver, identified as Kevin Alexander Alvareztostadorizo, was traveling at an excessive and reckless speed, leading to a warrant and his subsequent arrest. Authorities urged careful driving and asked witnesses to contact Traffic Investigator Steve Ernst.
