MaddyChristine Hope Brokopp, diagnosed with terminal cancer, decided to make her own casket. She traveled to Massachusetts with friends to work with artisan Mary Lauren Fraser, a casket weaver. The group spent two days in Fraser's workshop, creating a burial tray for Brokopp. Friends from different stages of her life joined her, including Cynthia Siegers, who celebrated her birthday during the experience. Fraser's workshop features books on basketry and death, and she specializes in woven caskets and burial trays.
